This Women's History Month, we're shining a spotlight on two remarkable women who are integral to the heart and soul of Guild and Cordoba guitars: Paula Gomez and Maria Ramirez. Their stories are a testament to dedication, resilience, and the power of pursuing one's passion.

Paula Gomez: From Fields to Frets, A Journey of Dedication

Paula, an Assembler, has always found joy in creation. "I have always enjoyed making things and being able to take pride in what I can create," she shares. Her journey to guitar building is a testament to her resilience. From working in fields and packing factories to honing her skills as a seamstress, Paula’s path led her to Guild and Cordoba.

"I have always been driven to work and work hard to secure a better future," Paula explains. Her days are a blend of precision and artistry, including sanding, measuring, assembling, and rigorous quality control. Her expertise lies in kerfing, a crucial step in the guitar-making process.

Paula's advice to aspiring women is a powerful call to action: "Be driven and nothing is impossible. As a single mother, I have been able to raise a family by always working hard, so keep trying and show determination. You can do anything you set your mind to."

Maria Ramirez: Breaking Barriers and Building Legacies

Maria, a vital member of our Neck Assembly team, embodies the spirit of determination. "A can-do attitude and perseverance helped to set me apart," she says, reflecting on her journey from working in local fields to crafting guitar necks.

Maria's path to Guild and Cordoba was paved with determination. Despite hearing discouraging rumors, she persisted, and was welcomed with open arms. For nearly seven years, she has been an integral part of our team, specializing in neck assembly. Her days involve meticulous work, from sanding and assembling necks to installing frets, and her favorite part, adding the logo. “It’s the first thing people see, and I want that to be perfect.”

Her advice for aspiring women is equally powerful: "Knock on as many doors as you need to get to where you want to be. Do not let anyone tell you that you shouldn’t or that you won’t like it. Make your own decisions, take classes, show interest. You can do anything a man can do; you just have to do it."

Shared Passion, Shared Pride

Both Paula and Maria share a deep sense of pride in their work. "I take great pride in what I can make," Maria says, a sentiment echoed by Paula. They use their skills to craft instruments that will bring joy to musicians around the world.

Celebrating Their Contributions

This Women's History Month, we celebrate Paula and Maria, and all the women who contribute their talents to Guild and Cordoba. Their stories remind us that passion, determination, and a willingness to learn can open doors to incredible opportunities. They build more than guitars; they build a legacy of dedication and empowerment. Their contributions are essential to the music we create.

We are honored to have Paula and Maria as part of our team, and we thank them for their dedication and hard work.
